Transcript of article in The Geraldton Guardian, Saturday, September 17, 1927Dancer’s Terrible DeathFamily Wiped Out By TragediesLondon, September 15, 1927The famous dancer, Isadore Duncan, had a tragic end at Nice. She was driving a motor car along the Promenade des Anglais, when a long scarf she was wearing caught in a wheel and dragged her from her seat into the roadway, where it was found the spinal column had been broken. She was taken to hospital, but died.Isadora Duncan’s death completes the tragic wiping out of a family. A motor car containing her two children plunged into the Seine in 1913, and both were drowned. Then her husband the Russian poet Essenin, commited suicide in 1925. Isadore’s most initimate companion dancer, Mademoiselle Desty, had a presentiment of the tragedy and begged her not to go in the car.

Transcript of newspaper article appearing in Australian The Daily News, Tuesday, September, 1927:Isadora DuncanStrange Funeral ScenesGreat Assemblage(Special “News” Service)PARIS, September 19.Remarkable scenswere witnessed at the funeral of Isadora Duncan, the famous dancer. Thousands assembled at the Pere la Chaise Cemetery, including well-known people from literary and artistic circles, and dozens from the Latin Quarter, but the most striking feature of the long procession of friends of the dancer was a number of men and women in long white robes and with sandalled feet behind the bier, which was drawn by four horses and covered with red, blue, white and yellow flowers. On reaching the crematorium, there was a rush for admission, people fighting in the doorways. The police were called up and closed the doors.Meanwhile a French poet named Nivoire delivered a funeral oration inside, while Raymond Duncan, Isadora’s brother, long-haired and white-robed, mounted a rostrum and addressed the thousands outside. He declared: “People of Paris, Isadora greets and adores you.”(Isadora Duncan was motoring at Nice when her scarf became caught in a wheel and dragged her from her seat on to the roadway, fracturing her spine.)
